The Balochistan Education Support Project (BESP) is an initiative for empowering the communities to establish and manage school for their children. The project objective is to promote public- private and community partnership to improve access to quality education. |
Description of actual services provided by your staff within the assignment:
Conducted baseline survey to identify 50 potential sites for school establishment. Mobilized communities to ensure their participation in the selection of Parent Education Committee (PEC). Mobilized community to provide land for the school for construction of school building by BEF. Identified, formed and registered PECs with Social Welfare Department Registered school with Education Department as a non-government community school Acquired space/building for school from community for two years Ensured the opening of PEC bank/postal account. Ensured that PEC identifies and selects teacher for the proposed school as per the set criteria. Assisted the PEC in starting and managing the school Ensured through PEC that there is minimum 20 students in a community school with participation of girls at least 40%. Facilitated teacher training and ensure that proper pre-service and in-service teacher training needs are identified and forwarded to BEF. Identified training needs of PECs Ensured active participation of teachers and PEC in training and capacity building activities organized by BEF Took corrective action for rectifying any kind of discrepancies arising from time to time in the matter related to PEC, community and teachers. Ensured that the key performance indicators are met, and data is collected regularly for verification for progress on key performance indicators. Provided on site support to teachers in good classroom practices Ensured that learning evaluation takes place and facilitate learning evaluation arranged by BEF Ensured that the salaries are disbursed to the teachers regularly on time. Ensured that books provided through BEF, reach the school and students on time. Ensured appropriate utilization of funds and provision of education material. Monitored the general conditions of the school Monitored that the PEC displays monthly accounts and progress reports on the notice-board of the community school for the benefit of the wider community Attended all quarterly review meetings with BEF and any other meeting as and when required by BEF |
