Narrative description of Project:
The Project was based on an innovative approach to enable the village people understand completely the idea of creating a partnership between the community and the public sector for improved service delivery system. Village Development Committees (VCDs), which had the dynamic and foundational position in the model, gets a status of autonomous institution and authority for interacting with the Govt line departments. The idea was to provide an efficient and transparent mechanism at various levels for delivery of social services. So it was a step towards shifting powers and responsibilities to the villagers themselves. It provided village people with the substantial control over all process of development. Through their participation was to ensure proper utilization of funds quality of work and as well as the opportunity of contracts and links with Govt officials, NGOs and agencies. |
Description of actual services provided :
Formation and capacity building of Village Development Committee (VDC) who are involved in education, water supply, basic health, sanitation and micro credit for women groups to encourage income-generating activities. Establishment and Capacity Building of Union Council Development Committees (UCDC) by nominating one member from each VDC. Establishment and capacity building of District Development Committees (DDC): The UCDCs will have their representation in DDC by sending their members in the district level committee for development to complete the model of development partnership with the district heads of departments under the chairmanship of the Deputy Commissioner. |
